Elite Gourmet 2-Slice Cool Touch Toaster

I finally swapped out the old toaster on my counter because it had gotten to the point where one side of the bread was always darker than the other and the lever felt loose every time I pushed it down. This little Elite Gourmet unit is the kind of toaster I would recommend to someone who just wants breakfast to work without taking up much space or costing much money. It is simple, it heats quickly, and it does the one job a toaster is supposed to do without turning the kitchen into a project.
What I like most is the extra wide slots. That matters more than it sounds like it would. Thick bread fits without forcing, and bagels are easier to handle because they do not get jammed in at an angle. I also like that the outside stays cool enough to touch without that nervous little flinch you get from some cheap appliances. That is handy in a small kitchen where things sit close together and you are always reaching past one thing to get to another.
The browning control is useful because it gives you enough range to find a setting that matches what you actually eat. Some toasters feel like they only have two moods, barely warm or too dark. This one gives you more room to settle into a setting you like and stick with it. The cancel button is another small thing that ends up mattering. If you notice the toast is getting away from you, you can stop it instead of waiting around and hoping for the best.
I would say this is a good fit for someone cooking for one or two, or anyone who wants a compact toaster that does not dominate the counter. It is also the kind of thing that makes sense in a second kitchen, a dorm, or a small apartment where every inch matters. If you toast bread most mornings and you want something straightforward, this gets the job done.
The one thing I would change is that the crumb tray and controls feel a little basic. They work fine, but the whole unit has that plain, no-frills look that reminds you where the price landed. That is not a problem for me, but if you like appliances that feel a little heavier or more finished, this will not wow you. It is functional first, and that is the point.
I keep coming back to how easy it is to live with. It does not need much thought, it does not hog space, and it does not make a mess of the counter. That is enough for me to call it a good buy. If you want a compact toaster for everyday bread, bagels, or the occasional thick slice, this is an easy one to live with.
